I put up the first three sections on top of the base section the Hard Way.
One leg at a time!!
I took each section apart so that I had one leg and the cross members off of one
side and ginpoled it up using the mast as a ginpole! Slow going by yourself and HOT outside! After getting an entire section up we would go to the lake for the day. The next day I was wiped and didn't do any on the tower work, next day back at it and then back out on the boat again!
Well you get the picture. Anyway I was off for the week since we had family down. The weekend rolled around and I had Rick come out and we had the next 4 sections up with the mast in place in 2 1/2 hours! lol.
I *did* enjoy the experience though, even if it was hot and slow!
I did take precautions though, safety harness with dual fall arrest lines as well as my positioning chain!
If you look at the mast you will see how I attached it. I had a pulley up on top
and spaced the mast away from the tower with sections of wood 4x4's. As I got higher I used
a 4x4 section on top and a 2x4 section on the bottom to keep it more even.
Each secton had two rachet straps holding it in place as well as a small loop safety cable
wrapped around the tower and mast to keep it from going anywhere.
I would put one rachet facing one way and put the one right next to it facing the other way. This way the second rachet pulled on the mast in the Opposite direction and had equal tension on it.
Complete! Sorry that it looks crooked, couldn't see what I was aiming at
in the viewscreen because of the sun!
